Strategies for Effective Online Learning
Hawkeye Community College is committed to providing a quality experience for the online student and recognizes that course development and delivery require a level of organization and preparedness different from the traditional classroom. For online and hybrid instructors, and increasingly for face-to-face instructors supplementing their courses with online resources, it is important to pay careful attention to course organization and design that improves student engagement, learning, and retention. During this short course, participants will experience online learning from the student perspective and examine learner-centered practices for designing virtual environments. Effective strategies for teaching and learning online as well as virtual components for face-to-face courses will be covered.
This workshop is online for three weeks, open to all faculty, and fulfills one of the requirements for Hawkeye's two-year faculty induction program.
